U2 (http://www.u2.com)today marked the 30th anniversary of the release of The Joshua Tree (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Joshua_Tree) by announcing a new expanded, multiformat reissue of the 1987 album that will include B-sides, outtakes, a concert recorded that year at New York’s Madison Square Garden and a set of newly commissioned remixes.
Due out June 2, The Joshua Tree: 30th Anniversary Edition (http://www.u2.com/news/title/the-joshua-tree-at-30) will come in a wide variety of physical and digital formats: a 7LP Vinyl Super Deluxe Box Set, a 4-disc Super Deluxe CD Box Set, a 2-disc Deluxe CD Edition, single-disc vinyl and CD editions, and a full digital release.
The new reissue of The Joshua Tree is an expansion of the 20th anniversary edition (https://www.amazon.com/Joshua-Remastered-Expanded-Super-Deluxe/dp/B000WTNCQS/ref=sr_1_1?s=music&ie=UTF8&qid=1489068699&sr=1-1&keywords=u2+joshua+tree+box+set) released in 2007; that set included a disc of B-sides and outtakes, all of which are included here, and more. In addition to those, there’s an alternative Steve Lillywhite mix of “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For,” and a new Brian Eno “reprise” of “One Tree Hill.”
A disc of new remixes includes takes on Joshua Tree singles and album tracks by Lillywhite, St. Francis Hotel, Jacknife Lee, Daniel Lanois and Flood.
And, finally, there’s a 17-song live set recorded at Madison Square Garden in 1987.
The sets are up for preorder now via U2.com (http://u2.fanfire.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/Store.woa/wa/artist?artistName=U2com&sourceCode=U2TWEBWWUSD&userid=%7Bid%7D&categoryName=The+Joshua+Tree+30th+Anniversary&fanclubname=u2club&usercode=%7Bmd5Password%7D), and will be released a few weeks after U2 launches its Joshua Tree 30th anniversary tour (http://www.u2.com/tour).
