[tweetmeme]Director Kriv Stenders’ (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0826541/) new documentary on the beloved, if criminally underappreciated, Australian indie-rock act The Go-Betweens (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Go-Betweens) will premiere next month at the Sydney Film Festival (http://www.sff.org.au/?_ga=2.75696917.1865831586.1494513939-546897718.1494513844) in the band’s home country, and a new trailer offers fans an early look at the film.
The 95-minute “The Go-Betweens: Right Here” (http://tix.sff.org.au/session_sff.asp?sn=The+Go-Betweens%3A+Right+Here) features appearances by Robert Forster (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Robert_Forster_(musician)), who co-founded the band with the late Grant McLennan (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grant_McLennan), as well as former bandmates Lindy Morrison, Amanda Brown, John Wilsteed and Robert Vickers, as well as famed Australian musicians Steve Kilbey and Paul Kelly.
The official description of the documentary, which screens June 15 and 16 at the festival, reads:

Director Kriv Stenders (“Red Dog,” “Australia Day”) uncovers the people who made The Go-Betweens. Conceived in Brisbane in the late 1970s, and fronted by singer-songwriters and guitarists Robert Forster and Grant McLennan, the band recorded such resonant Australian classics as ‘Streets of Your Town’ and ‘Cattle and Cane’. They were later joined by Lindy Morrison on drums, and Amanda Brown on violin and oboe, among others, before disbanding in 1989 and reforming in 2000. With extraordinary access, music clips, and a distinctively Queensland style, Stenders follows the band’s three decades, through countless successes, failures, romances, break-ups, betrayals, triumphs and tragedies.
